Há livros complicados! / Challenging books

“She reads with great concentration. Her eyes rarely move from the pages of her book — a thick hardback. A bookstore wrapper hides the title from us. Judging from her intent expression, the book might contain a challenging subject matter. Far from skimming, she seems to be biting off and chewing it one line at a time.”

Haruki Murakami, After Dark

A sapiência de um cientista / The knowledge of a cientist

“If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn’t be called research, would it?”

Albert Einstein

s.id.

“But everyone regrets being unable to live lives other than his own; you too would like to live all your unrealized potentialities, all your possible lives. This novel is like you. It would like to be other novels, those it might have been.”

Milan Kundera, Life is Elsewhere

Quatro citações sobre os sonhos / Four quotes about dreams

“People think dreams aren’t real just because they aren’t made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.”

John Dee, em Preludes and Nocturnes

“Cinderella believed in dreams, all right, but she also believed in doing something about them. When Prince Charming didn’t come along, she went over to the palace and got him.”
